Food markets
Vigo’s food markets and market squares are the city’s best gastronomic lure; these are the places to lose yourself in a sea of aromas and flavours, and where you can buy fresh and traditional produce.
Vigo has typical food markets, such as the one in O Berbés, where the pescantinas (fishmongers) offer spectacular seafood, and squares with character, like O Calvario, where the neighbours still buy fruit, vegetables and all kinds of fish every morning. Be sure to buy Galician bread and try its many varieties: rye or corn, round or baguette style, from Cea or with raisins and nuts. Delicious!
Tips and recommendations:
Stop to chat with the pescantinas (fishmongers) and discover the best way to prepare what you bought: they’re the true experts.
