The Galician garden
In Vigo’s plaza de abastos (food market), you can verify the quality and variety of Galician fruits and vegetables: tomatoes "like in the old days", tasty peppers and seasonal fruits, all locally grown. You’ll be amazed by their aroma and prices. In any restaurant’s menu, you’ll find the classic, spicy padrón peppers, or turnip tops, which are nothing else than turnip sprouts, a delicious dish only found in Galicia; they’re exquisite in Galician broth and in the famous pork with turnip tops. Furthermore, if you visit Vigo in autumn, take a stroll in the city’s forest parks and look for mushrooms and chestnuts. They’re delicious!
