The old town
The heart of Vigo
Vigo breathes from the Old Town. This charismatic neighbourhood is a small village in the centre of a bustling, industrial city. A rehabilitation process, still underway, has allowed neighbourhood life to gradually flourish in this beautiful area of streets and paths that meander towards the sea. Today, new shops and stores are opening in streets like Palma, Oliva or Calle Real, which links O Berbés with the Church of Santa Maria, popularly known as La Colegiata.
From the impressive and ever-lively Praza da Constitución square, where you could buy just about anything two centuries ago, to the banks of the Berbés or Rúa da Pescadería , where you can taste the city’s famous oysters, we guarantee the casco vello is well worth a few strolls.
Furthermore, you're in one of the city’s best dining areas; Vigo’s Old Town is the perfect place for wine and tapas. You can also sit and dine in some of the city's historic restaurants, savouring the best fish and seafood in Spain.
Organize a getaway to Vigo for the last weekend of March and discover the Reconquista, Vigo’s most representative celebration in the Old Town.
