Health and emergency services
The public health and emergency services in Vigo are prepared to answer to its visitors’ every need: chemist’s shops, health centres, emergency rooms… The Galician health system is called Sergas and is comparable to all the quality health services offered in other Spanish regions. However, if you’re on any kind of medication, be sure to bring it along, or you’ll have to pay for it at the chemist’s.
There are two large public hospitals in Vigo, Álvaro Cunqueiro and O Meixoeiro hospitals, as well as two private ones, Povisa and Fátima, and health centres in every neighbourhood.
