Founded in 1990, the University of Vigo is a public institution with a strong European, Atlantic and international outlook. Its main campus, Lagoas-Marcosende, is located around 15 kilometres from the centre of Vigo, in a privileged natural setting.

The campus is also a unique example of contemporary architecture, with buildings designed by renowned architects such as Enric Miralles and Alfonso Penela, which blend into the topography and landscape of Vigo’s hillsides.

Its large international community and mobility and cooperation programmes make the University a meeting point for different cultures. Every year, students from Europe, Latin America and other parts of the world come to Vigo to study, discover the city and enjoy its Atlantic character.
